Weddings
Tis the Season of Engagements
It’s finally that time of the year! December and January are two of the most popular months to get engaged. Seriously. In the past 2 days I’ve seen 5 people’s engagements show up on my newsfeed! How exciting?! To celebrate I though thought it would be fitting to take a look at the past year’s ring shots. Ring shots are seriously my favorite. I just want to make canvases of every single one and put them in my office. But that would be an overwhelming amount of canvases in one tiny room!
Take a look at some of my favorite ring shots from 2013 wedding and engagements. 🙂
Oh, and in case you missed Facebook/Instagram post yesterday, to celebrate engagement season I am offering 200.00 off any wedding collection booked between now and December 31!
Jon & Whitney | Omaha Wedding Photography
You met them this summer at their adorable fair engagement session, and here they are again, MARRIED! I was so honored to be able to shoot Jon & Whitney’s wedding. Jon is Tyler’s oldest friend, and being able to document him get married to Whitney was so great. The day was frigid, but the DC Centre in Omaha was set up for Christmas, which made for a beautiful backdrop for most of the portraits. Jon and Whitney, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your special day. Your love truly reflects Christ’s love, and I can’t wait to see how God uses you in CRU!
Enjoy a few of my favorites from the day 🙂
Weekend Recap | Ames Wedding Photography
Hello hello! I know, I know, this post is SUPER late. (I really don’t have an excuse other than being busy with school!) But it’s still here, and it includes a gorgeous sneak peek! Other than Jon & Whitney’s wedding and driving in a snow storm, this weekend was pretty uneventful so I don’t have much to say.
Jon & Whitney’s wedding was the first wedding I have photographed this year where the bride and groom were good friends before we even talked about wedding photography! It was so fun to be a part of their special day. Their blog post will be up next week, but for now here is a sneak peek of their gorgeous Christmas-y wedding. (Yes, I just made Christmas into an adjective. No, I’m not sure if that’s allowed 😉 )
David & Brittany | An Ames Iowa Wedding
He stood in the frigid wind patiently waiting for her arrival. After what I’m sure seemed like ages, she finally came through the campanile and tapped him on the shoulder; his cue to turn around. The moment he saw her his smile radiated joy. Â Their whole day played out perfectly, with abundance of time for them to just soak in each other’s love, as well as the love from their family and friends.
David and Brittany, allowing me to document your wedding has blessed me in so many ways. Your love for Christ, each other, and your friends and family made your day so special to capture. Thank you so much for allowing Jamie and me to be apart of your day!
Seriously, his reaction to seeing Brittany was perfect! Swooning over these next couple frames!Â
Rob & Johanna | A Denison Iowa Wedding
As my wedding season winds down, I continue to have such amazing brides and grooms! Rob & Johanna’s day was simply beautiful. The fall weather, their love for one another, and the love their family and friends have for them was all perfect. Johanna is one of the sweetest girls I have ever met, and their families and friends were no different! I felt as though I had known them all for years. Rob & Johanna originally chose to stay traditional, and not see eachother before the ceremony. However, a couple weeks before the wedding I got an email from Johanna asking if they could do a first look instead! They ended up choosing to do a first look, so we did portraits before and after their ceremony. We had SO much time for portraits, and I loved it! That is just one of the many reasons why first looks are SO great! Enjoy my favorite highlights from this gorgeous fall wedding!Â
Rob & Johanna, thank you so much for allowing Jamie and I to be a part of your special day!
A few of my favorite things | Ames Wedding Photographer
Wow! It’s October 31st already. Which means tomorrow is November 1 (it’s funny how that works right?! 😉 ) In honor of a new month, I thought I would dedicate a post to some of my favorite things.
Favorite Drink:Â Vanilla Lattes (particularly from Starbucks). They just have the right mixture of vanilla, milk and espresso flavoring. So good!
Favorite Flower: Peonies. Gah they’re so gorgeous. I’ve told Tyler that if we could re-plan our wedding, I would want a spring wedding just so we could have peonies! I love them so much I had them incorporated into my logo 🙂
Favorite Book(s):Â The Hunger Games trilogy. I have read them 3 times. Or is it 4? I can’t remember, but they’re so dang good! I can’t wait for the 2nd movie to come out in 22 days!
Favorite Color: If you know me then this is a no-brainer, if not then the answer is mint. I even have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to my love for mint. Again, I even had it incorporated into my logo 🙂
And last but not least…
My Favorite Guilty Pleasure:Â I feel guilty admitting this, and maybe I should keep this a secret (pun intended) but as of right now I LOVE Pretty Little Liars. I know, I know, why?! I’m not sure I can answer that. I started watching it on Netflix on Saturday, and I’m totally addicted.
Have a great Halloween, friends 🙂
John + Emily | A Sioux City Wedding
Good morning & Happy Tuesday! I am so excited to share John & Emily’s wedding with you all today! They were married last Saturday  at the Cathedral of the Epiphany, and they celebrated at Bev’s on the River. John & Emily had the perfect fall day for their wedding. It was a little chilly in the morning, but by the end of the day the sun had come out and warmed it up. John & Emily’s wedding was one of the most personalized weddings I have ever shot. Seriously! Emily had thought of every little detail  and it all came together so perfectly! These two were such a joy to photograph, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to document their special day.
So, with out further ado, sit back and enjoy some of my favorites from their day!
Pam + Casey | Sioux City Wedding Photography
Hello friends! Phew, it feels like I haven’t blogged in ages, but it has only been a week and a half! I must say, I really enjoyed getting to focus on my husband, school, work, and other fun things! However, I am so excited to share this beautiful wedding with you guys!
Pam and I went to high school together, and I was SO excited for her when I heard she was engaged! I was even more excited when she told me she wanted me as her wedding photographer! I love being able to be apart of this huge milestone in friends’ lives. If you remember, Pam and Casey’s engagement session was rescheduled several times because of rain, and we even had to stop shooting during their engagement session while we waited for a storm to pass. Â Well, on Pam & Casey’s wedding day it looked as though we were going to have the same luck. It was chilly and rainy when we started the day; however, we lucked out! The rain stopped just in time for portraits, and it turned out to be a perfect day!
Pam & Casey, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your special day! Enjoy!
This is probably one of my favorite getting ready shots. So adorable!Â
I love this photo of Pam and her sweet dog 🙂 Pam, you are STUNNING!
The guys had orange socks, so of course we needed to show them off! So much joy!
Congratulations Pam & Casey! Your wedding was absolutely beautiful!
Hannah & Ian | A DeWitt Iowa Wedding
One really great thing about this job is getting the chance to travel. Sure, it’s just been throughout Iowa so far, but it’s still fun getting to explore places that I never would if it weren’t for weddings! For Hannah & Ian’s big day, we traveled to a small town near Davenport named DeWitt. We went up a day early, so we got to explore the town a little bit. (And we even attempted our first self portraits!)
As soon as I met Hannah & Ian, I knew we would become friends! They are so much fun, and so relaxed. Their engagement session (which is featured on A Northwoods Wedding today! ) was filled with bugs, but it didn’t stop them from being filled with joy, and they were the same on their wedding day. Everything ran so smoothly and their love for one another was so radiant. Tyler and I loved being a part of this special day! Enjoy! 🙂
